Over 500 people pay tribute to Barry Aldridge

Floral Lancaster

We were deeply saddened to hear the news that Barry Aldridge passed away at the beginning of the year, but amazed to hear that over 500 people attended his funeral yesterday. A fitting tribute to Barry, who, together with his wife Sue, worked tirelessly to bring together the stories and memories of RAF Witchford and set up the Witchford Display of Memorabilia on the Lancaster Way Business Park; stories that would later be included in a book - Memories of RAF Witchford. A lasting legacy that will live on for years to come and of which Sue and her family can be incredibly proud.

Grovemere, who own the former aerodrome site, and who host the Witchford Display sent the most wonderful floral tribute in the form of a Lancaster.

More about Barry & Sue's book is on our website here.
